Weekly Alternative Carrier Performance: Peak Pressure, Real-Time Response

Every week, Tusk Logistics tracks tens of thousands of parcel deliveries across our nationwide network of alternative carriers. The goal is simple: understand what’s actually happening on the ground and help shippers respond faster. Here’s what we saw last week.

Last Week’s Network Performance Snapshot

  • 📦 89% of all shipments were delivered on time
  • 🔥 87% were delivered within two days
  • ⏱️ 64% of late shipments arrived the very next day

These results came in below our weekly averages, and that matters. But the context matters more.

Why Alternative Carrier On-Time Performance Dipped

This week’s performance reflects what true peak season looks like when volume stress tests every part of the network.

Three factors drove the decline:

  • Sustained high volumes nationwide put pressure on even historically strong lanes
  • A small number of underperforming carrier facilities saw throughput degrade under peak load
  • A single but extended carrier outage created ripple effects across impacted regions

This is peak season in real time: uneven, dynamic, and fast-moving.

What Matters Most During Peak

The most important thing during weeks like this isn’t perfect performance. It’s accurate tracking and rapid response.

Throughout the week, Tusk actively supported shippers by:

  • Adjusting carrier mix as conditions changed
  • Updating shipping rules dynamically
  • Re-routing parcels in real time to avoid known bottlenecks

That flexibility is critical when volumes spike and conditions shift daily, sometimes hourly.

Standout Carrier Performance

Even during a challenging week, several carriers delivered exceptional results.

💪 100% On-Time Delivery

  • Falcon Express Transportation: 17th week on the list

💪 OTP Above 97%

  • CDL Last Mile: 25th week on the list
  • Promed Delivery: first week back on the list

Consistency at this level during peak volumes is not accidental. It reflects disciplined operations, strong lane design, and the ability to scale without breaking.

The Takeaway

Peak season exposes weaknesses fast, but it also highlights the value of a diversified, actively managed alternative carrier network.

When performance slips, the advantage goes to shippers who can see it early and respond immediately. That’s what this data is for, and why we publish it weekly.

We’ll continue tracking, sharing, and adjusting as peak unfolds. Check back next week for the latest network performance snapshot.
